General Raw Feeding Suggestions
Experience the Raw Difference: A raw food diet maximizes the digestibility and bioavailability of nutrients, meaning your pet gets more out of their food. You'll likely feed less compared to a commercial diet.
Calculating Daily Servings:
The best way to determine how much to feed your pet is based on their body weight. Here's a general guideline:
Adults: 2-3% of their body weight (in ounces of food), divided into two meals (morning and evening).
Puppies & Kittens: Twice the amount as an adult.
Weight Loss: 1.5% of their target weight.
Weight Gain: 3% of their current weight.
Small Pets (Under 25 lbs): Never less than 4 ounces per day, regardless of weight calculations.
Special Cases: Up to 10% for pets under 2 years old, expecting mothers, and working dogs.
Important Notes:
Always measure food in ounces for accuracy.
Raw meaty bones can be a healthy addition, but never feed cooked bones.
These are general guidelines. Adjust based on your pet's activity level, age, health, and breed. Monitor their weight after transitioning fully to raw and make further adjustments as needed.
Fresh water should always be available.
What to Expect During Transition:
Stool Changes: Expect changes in your pet's waste. During the transition, stools may be looser (but not runny) and may have a mucous coating. This is normal. Once acclimated, stools will become smaller, firmer, less frequent, and significantly less odorous than on a commercial diet.
