General Raw Feeding Suggestions

Experience the Raw Difference: A raw food diet maximizes the digestibility and bioavailability of nutrients, meaning your pet gets more out of their food. You'll likely feed less compared to a commercial diet.

Calculating Daily Servings:

The best way to determine how much to feed your pet is based on their body weight. Here's a general guideline:

  • Adults: 2-3% of their body weight (in ounces of food), divided into two meals (morning and evening).

  • Puppies & Kittens: Twice the amount as an adult.

  • Weight Loss: 1.5% of their target weight.

  • Weight Gain: 3% of their current weight.

  • Small Pets (Under 25 lbs): Never less than 4 ounces per day, regardless of weight calculations.

  • Special Cases: Up to 10% for pets under 2 years old, expecting mothers, and working dogs.

Important Notes:

  • Always measure food in ounces for accuracy.

  • Raw meaty bones can be a healthy addition, but never feed cooked bones.

  • These are general guidelines. Adjust based on your pet's activity level, age, health, and breed. Monitor their weight after transitioning fully to raw and make further adjustments as needed.

  • Fresh water should always be available.

What to Expect During Transition:

  • Stool Changes: Expect changes in your pet's waste. During the transition, stools may be looser (but not runny) and may have a mucous coating. This is normal. Once acclimated, stools will become smaller, firmer, less frequent, and significantly less odorous than on a commercial diet.
