About Air-Dried Treats

Air-Dried vs. Dehydrated

Air-Dried vs. Dehydrated: What's the Difference?

Air-drying preserves raw protein through evaporation without heat, keeping the meat in its natural state and preserving its nutritional integrity. Dehydration, on the other hand, uses low heat, which can alter the protein's composition.

Our Air-Drying Method:

Our treats are made with a meticulous, hand-crafted process. We start by hand-trimming each protein to remove excess fat. The ingredients are then sliced and placed on trays in our custom-built drying facility. After 24 hours, they're repositioned to ensure thorough drying.

The Drying Process:

Each protein dries at its own pace, depending on its natural moisture content:

  • Muscle Meat: Thinly sliced and fat-removed, dries in about 48 hours.

  • Organ Meats (Heart, Liver, Spleen): Denser and more nutrient-rich, takes up to 72 hours.

  • Seafood (Salmon, Cod, Anchovies, Green Lipped Mussels): Highest moisture content, can take up to 5 days.

This careful, time-intensive process is why our treats take a little longer to ship – but it's worth the wait! Once dried and packaged, they're shelf-stable for over a year without refrigeration.

Why Choose Air-Dried Treats?

The Raw Concierge air-dried treats are handcrafted using a traditional method of preserving meat with air and ambient temperature. Ambient temperature fluctuates with environmental conditions like cold weather and rain, which can affect drying times. Our air-drying process uses circulating air at varying speeds 24/7 to remove moisture below 8%, inhibiting pathogen growth while preserving the natural vitamins, minerals, and enzymes found in raw protein. This results in a shelf-stable product that requires no preservatives.

Perfect for Every Pet:

Our single-protein air-dried treats are ideal for dogs and cats of all breeds and life stages, including those with dental issues, senior pets, puppies, and kittens. They soften with saliva, making them easy to chew, swallow, and digest. You can even rehydrate them by soaking them in water for a few minutes to restore a raw meat consistency.
